About Dallas Brethren Assembly

A Bible-based fellowship growing in faith and love

Church History

Our Journey of Faith

In 1979, a group of like-minded believers, primarily from Kerala, began meeting in homes for Worship, Remembrance, and the Teaching of God’s Word under the leadership of Brother K.C. Mathai. What began as a small fellowship was, by God’s grace, established in 1981 as Dallas Brethren Assembly (DBA) in Irving, Texas. From its early days, the assembly was devoted to the teaching of God’s Word, fellowship, and the remembrance of our Lord Jesus Christ. Over the years, as the Dallas–Fort Worth area grew and the community expanded, several other assemblies were established, reflecting the spread of believers across the region.

Like many assemblies, DBA has experienced seasons of change and transition. Yet through every stage, the Lord has been faithful in preserving a testimony for His name and sustaining the fellowship of His people.

In later years, believers from North Dallas Believers Chapel came together in fellowship with DBA. Sharing a common desire for unity and simplicity according to New Testament principles, the assembly continues today under the name Dallas Brethren Assembly.

By the grace of God, DBA remains committed to gathering in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, upholding the truth of Scripture, and fostering Christ-centered worship and fellowship.

Our Mission

“Dallas Brethren Assembly exists to glorify God by gathering in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for worship and remembrance, the teaching of God’s Word, the proclamation of the gospel, and the building up of believers in love.”

Our Vision

To be a Christ-centered assembly that reflects His love, grows in His truth, and shines as a testimony of the gospel in our community and beyond.

Statement of Faith

Dallas Brethren Assembly, Inc.
We believe:
The Scriptures

That the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, without error in its original writings, and is the final authority for faith and life.

The One True God

That there is one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; equal in power and glory.

The Lord Jesus Christ

That the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who became man without ceasing to be God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins on the cross. He rose again bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God.

The Holy Spirit

That the Holy Spirit is God, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He indwells every believer, guiding, teaching, and enabling them to live a godly life.

Humanity and Sin

That all people are created in the image of God but have fallen into sin and are separated from God. Therefore, all are in need of salvation.

Salvation
That salvation is by the grace of God alone, through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ. His shed blood is the only basis for the forgiveness of sins. All who receive Him are born again and have eternal life.
The Church

That the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all true believers. We gather in His name for worship, remembrance, prayer, fellowship, and the teaching of the Word of God.

The Lord’s Supper

That the Lord’s Supper is observed in remembrance of the Lord Jesus Christ, proclaiming His death until He comes, and is to be partaken of by believers in a worthy manner.

Baptism

That baptism is the outward expression of an inward faith, symbolizing identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Christian Life

That believers are called to live a life of holiness, love, and obedience to God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and to be a testimony to the world.

Marriage

We believe that marriage is ordained by God and is a sacred union between one man and one woman, as established in Scripture. Marriage is designed by God to reflect Christ’s relationship with His Church and is to be honored in purity, love, and faithfulness.

Family & Conduct
We believe that God has established the family as a foundational institution for human society. The family is to be centered on Christ and guided by the principles of His Word.
Within this relationship, husbands and wives are called to love, honor, and serve one another, reflecting Christ’s love for His Church. Children are a gift from the Lord and are to be nurtured, instructed, and brought up in the discipline and teaching of the Lord.
We believe that all believers are called to live lives that are pleasing to God, marked by holiness, humility, love, and obedience to His Word. As followers of Christ, we seek to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel, both within the assembly and in the world.
Church Discipline
We believe that the Lord has entrusted the church with the responsibility of maintaining purity, unity, and love among His people.
When a believer falls into sin, the goal is always restoration, carried out in a spirit of humility, gentleness, and love. Following the teaching of Scripture, loving correction and, when necessary, discipline may be exercised for the purpose of repentance and spiritual growth.
Such care is exercised prayerfully under the guidance of the elders, always seeking to honor the Lord, protect the testimony of the assembly, and restore the individual to fellowship.
The Return of Christ

That the Lord Jesus Christ will return again personally and visibly, and that there will be a future resurrection and judgment.

Eternal Destiny

That all people will spend eternity either in the presence of God or separated from Him, based on their response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Leadership & Governance

At Dallas Brethren Assembly, we seek to follow the New Testament pattern of leadership through a plurality of elders.

The elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight, teaching, and shepherding of the assembly (Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1–3). They serve together in unity, seeking the mind of the Lord in all matters concerning the church.

An executive board functions to support the practical and administrative needs of the assembly. However, all major decisions and actions are carried out in harmony with, and under the oversight and approval of, the elders.

We believe that Christ is the Head of the Church, and all leadership is exercised in dependence upon Him and in submission to His Word.
